This study analyses the carbonate and organic carbon contents and their carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions of a total of 58 surface sediment samples from the continental margin of the East China Sea. Additional gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of selected sediment samples was preformed to show typical concentration and distribution of n-alkanes in these sediments.
